An innovative and dynamic leader, executive, adjunct professor, mentor committed to advancing the creative talents and professional skills of colleagues and collaborators. Dan’s broadcasting and television producing background in news, sports, entertainment, documentary, commercial and educational program production began in his freshman year in college as a producer and jock in radio in Minnesota and Wisconsin then on to shooting and editing sports features for local TV stations in Green Bay, Wisconsin and technical directing live sports broadcasts for WMVT TV in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He started teaching college level introduction television production courses as Junior in college.

 

Fast Forward>> Supporting technical and production credits on programs for CBS, NBC, ABC, ESPN, TNT, TSN, PBS, Paramount Pictures, NASA, HBO, Showtime, USA, MTV, VH-1, among others, Dan has been nominated for 3 and has received 2 “EMMY” Awards in addition to receiving over 50 additional industry related awards for excellence in technical and creative accomplishment. His instructor credits cover public and private higher education, adult learning institutions.

 

Now managing the Digital Media Training Unit for the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board Dan designs, develops and produces digital media training courses for law enforcement. He has executed these skills in educational/training content for PBS, Digital Equipment Corporation/Hewlett Packard, Alliant Techsystems, Inc. (ATK), private and public institutions of higher education, among others.

 

Dan is an Adjunct Professor in the College of Fine Arts and Production, Digital Film Production program at Grand Canyon University, appointed to the Faculty Advisory Board, Grand Canyon University in 2015, serves as a student mentor with the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, also as a new/prospective student advisor for synchronous/A-synchronous on-line Master’s programs for Northern Arizona University, is a current board member of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Board of Governors, (NATAS.) serving on the Social Media and Education committees. Additional post-secondary experience includes Department Chair & Lead Instructor, Visual Communications Department, Collins College, Trainer, Digital Media Training, HP/Compaq/Digital Equipment Corporation and as an Instructor, Studio Crew Positions, at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, WI.

 

Dan’s technical achievements include managing the development and introduction of “Decalert for Broadcast & Cable” (advanced equipment error detection/reporting solution), “Market Connection” PBS/NPR (HW/SW based, multiple market program underwriting contract solution), SD-HD Conversion (CBS), AZ POST Digital Learning System (Implement LMS for secure Elearning course development and distribution for Law Enforcement), Advanced Platform Systems-The Boeing Company (Marketing/technical communications).

 

CAI Television, a program production and distribution company he owns and serves as CEO and Executive Producer, serves as an integral member of “Proof of Concept” teams for advanced UAV platforms and systems with Defense and Aerospace Industry companies and agencies that include The Boeing Company, Lockheed Martin, Alliant Techsystems, Inc. (ATK), DARPA, Thales Group, DCNS, French Ministry of Defense, Piasecki Aircraft Corporation, Rockwell Collins, U.S Air Force, Galois and Australia Information Communications Technology Research Center.

 

Dan is a voting member of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), serves as a program entry judge for the National Daytime Emmy® Awards and U.S. Regional Emmy® Awards and serves on The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Board of Governors-Rocky Mountain Region, with past and present membership in the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), The Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE), Northern Arizona University Alumni Association, lifetime member , International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), Arizona Justice Educators Association (AJEA), Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Video Association International (LEVA) and was inducted into the “Who’s Who of Professionals” organization in 1997.

Dan attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Radio / TV / Film, from the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh. He earned credits in a Master of Business Administration degree from Regis University in Denver, Colorado receiving a Masters of Education, Educational Technology with Distinction from Northern Arizona University.

 

A Minnesota native, Dan and his wife Felice (a New Mexico native) have called Arizona home since 1993 and have blended their lives with the opportunities that an active and year round lifestyle in Arizona and the Southwest offer. They also are active in supporting the Missionaries of Charity Gift of Mary Shelters in Phoenix, Arizona and Gallup, New Mexico, with additional support to the American Red Cross, Good Will, World Apostolate of Fatima, St, Maria Goretti Church, New Turning Point Women’s Center, Arizona Department of Public Safety, The 100 Club, St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, Alice Cooper’s “Solid Rock Foundation”, Styx’ “Rock to the Rescue Foundation” and Celebrity Fight Night.
